RAWANG: The Perodua ViVa retained the title for the most fuel efficient car for the second consecutive year, after it received the 2009 Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific Automotive Award for Best Value for Money Model of the Year (Malaysia).
We are very grateful and proud to receive this award for two years running, Perodua Managing Director Datuk Syed Abdull Hafiz Syed Abu Bakar said.
This award is very significant to us as it not only prove our commitment to providing a car that fits the Malaysian lifestyle but a car that is also affordable to own and maintain, he said at the award ceremony held in Kuala Lumpur on 25 June 2009.
Syed Hafiz said Perodua ViVa is still maintaining sales momentum from last year, registering sales of over 25,000 units for the first five months of 2009 despite the current economic downturn.
The 2009 Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific Automotive Award for Best Value for Money Model of the Year (Malaysia) was presented to Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd for its model Perodua Viva.
The award was also for Perodua's exemplary innovative idea that was poured into the production and manufacturing of the vehicle for the nation, Frost and Sullivan said in a statement.
?Perodua has been recognised for its commitment and passion, demonstrating product innovation and dedication to produce a vehicle of people's choice, which has enabled the company to participate and contribute significantly to the automotive industry.
The passion and commitment demonstrated by Perodua makes it the deserving recipient of the 2009 Frost & Sullivan Best Value for Money Model of the Year Award for Perodua Viva, Frost & Sullivan said.
The company has displayed excellence ability to manufacture and produce a vehicle that is best in class for efficiency and affordability for every consumer in the country.
Furthermore, Perodua has continuously evolved and remained a leading player in the sub-compact and compact segment of the Malaysian automotive industry by introducing vehicle at its lowest affordability for the consumer as well as vehicle practicality, it added.
The ViVa sold nearly 140,000 units since it was launched in 2007 and was the second best selling car after the Myvi last year. In 2008, about 68,000 units of the ViVa was sold.
